》 About the USA
The United States began as a British settlement in 1606. In 1620, Puritans seeking religious freedom arrived on the Mayflower. By 1733, Britain had established 13 colonies along the Atlantic coast. These colonies, along with the Indigenous peoples and French territories, were in constant conflict. After Britain’s victory, it gained control over North America. Following the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and increasing tensions, the colonies declared independence in 1776. Through various wars with France, Spain, and Mexico, the U.S. eventually acquired most of its current territory by 1848. The Civil War began in 1861 and ended in 1865 with the North’s victory, securing democracy and abolishing slavery. The U.S. entered WWI in 1917, and WWII in the 1940s, emerging as a global power. The Cold War era shaped its leadership in capitalism and global politics. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990, the U.S. became the central force in a new world order. Since the 9/11 attacks in 2001, it has engaged in the War on Terror and now navigates a complex global landscape with evolving alliances. The U.S. is a federal republic with a presidential system. Donald Trump began his current term as president in 2025.
The USA is one of the most advanced economies in the world, leading in tech, medicine, aerospace, and defense. Still, it faces issues like income inequality, aging infrastructure, healthcare costs, and trade deficits. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 deeply impacted its economy, slowing down growth and increasing unemployment. The USA’s GDP per capita is approximately $81,695.
》 Scripture Focus
Haggai 1:4-6, 12-14(NIV) 4. “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” 5. Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. 6. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.“ 12. Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. And the people feared the LORD. 13. Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD. 14. So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God, |
》 Prayer Points
1. The USA (United States of America) began with Pilgrims, known as the Pilgrim Fathers, who came from England seeking religious freedom. They established a strong Christian foundation that shaped the nation’s early history. Today, about 38% of the population identifies as Protestant, with nearly 90 million Evangelical Christians. This large Christian community continues to share the gospel widely. However, many churches face challenges with materialism and secular influences, often losing sight of their original spiritual focus. Let us pray that they may turn back to God’s word, repenting and rebuilding their faith on biblical principles.
2. America’s spiritual heritage is under threat. Secular humanists, New Age groups, and LGBTQ+ movements are using legal and media platforms to ridicule and silence Christian voices. They preach “tolerance,” but deny Christians the freedom to express their beliefs. Christianity now faces internal challenges, including false doctrines such as universalism, prosperity gospel, extreme charismatics, and compromised Bible translations. Some mainline denominations like PCUSA(Presbyterian Church USA), UMC(United Methodist Church), and the Episcopal Church perform same-sex marriages and ordain LGBTQ+ clergy. Heretical groups like the Mormons are widespread, especially in Utah. Let us pray that the U.S. repents of defiling the temple of God, turns back to the Lord, and restores the church and nation by His grace.
3. Much of American church life has become superficial, focused on appearance rather than true spirituality. Pastors often act as CEOs rather than shepherds. Worship services can feel like performances instead of true fellowship. Disillusioned believers are turning to house churches or leaving institutional churches altogether. Let us pray that both pastors and laypeople are equipped and empowered to serve God’s people with humility and truth. May church leaders fear the Word of God, and may the American church be restored through gospel-centered revival and prayer, becoming once again a vibrant and faithful witness of Jesus Christ.
