“Monaco, put your hope in God!”

》 About Monaco

Monaco became the domain of the Grimaldi family from Genoa, Italy, in 1297, and the royal dynasty has lasted for over 700 years. From the 16th to the 19th century, Monaco was under the protection of Spain, France, and Italy. In 1861, it gained full sovereignty as a principality through the France-Monaco Treaty. Defense and foreign policy are entrusted to France, and the French president also holds the authority to appoint the prince. Prince Albert II is the reigning monarch, and Isabelle Berro-Amadeï serves as the Secretary of State, effectively leading the government.

Monaco is a world-famous resort destination known for its casinos and mild climate. In recent years, it has also emerged as a hub for banking and finance. The country has successfully diversified its economy into high-value-added small industries and service industry. Monaco holds monopolies in several areas, such as tobacco, telecommunications, and postal services. It is widely considered a European tax haven, offering income tax exemptions to foreign businesses—excluding those owned by Monegasque citizens and the French. Monaco’s GDP per capita is approximately $256,580.

》 Scripture Focus

Psalm 43:1–5(NIV)
1 Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation; rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.
2 You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?
3 Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

》 Prayer Points

1. Monaco is a permanently neutral country and a famous destination visited by countless tourists. But it is also a place where people have lost their thirst for God, focused on pleasures like casinos, gambling, and trade. About 77% of the population is Catholic. Though small in number, Anglicans, the French Reformed Church, and Monaco Christian Fellowship are evangelical groups serving international residents. Let us pray that God would shine His light and truth into their hearts and pour His grace so they overflow with hope in Him. May revival in these fellowships bring spiritual life and lead many across Monaco to the Lord.

2. More born-again believers are rising, and international churches are being planted to reach tourists. With over 160 nationalities living in this small nation, Monaco has a unique opportunity to impact the world. TWR’s Christian radio broadcasts reach a wide audience, with programs in 10 European and 4 North African languages. Let us pray that this place will serve as a strategic base for missions and become a land that blesses North Africa. Also, pray that vibrant, gospel-centered, multi-ethnic churches will be established to share the gospel with tourists. May those who appear wealthy yet suffer from spiritual emptiness and unrest may come to find true hope in God.

3. Monaco Christian Fellowship (MCF) and Protestant believers are faithfully meeting for weekly Bible study and various ministries, seeking to spread the gospel in Monaco. Many evangelicals live and work in Monaco and regularly join in worship. Let us pray that these believers will embrace their identity as disciples of Christ, value the mission of evangelism, and shine the light of the gospel in a spiritually dark.
