》 About Andorra

The official name of Andorra is the Principality of Andorra (Principat d’Andorra), often simply called Andorra. Since 1278, it has been a co-principality with the bishop of Urgell (Spain) and the president of France as co-heads of state. From the 1970s, tourism and foreign culture brought wealth and calls for political reform. With approval from the co-princes, a parliamentary republic system was adopted where elected representatives hold legislative and executive powers. The legislature is called the General Council. In 1993, France and Spain recognized Andorra’s sovereignty, and the country joined the UN. Xavier Espot Zamora has served as Prime Minister since 2019.

Andorra has a high-income, free-market economy, exceeding the European average and neighboring Spain and France. It attracts around 8 million visitors a year for winter sports and duty-free shopping. With low taxes and a strong financial sector, it has become a hub for international commerce. The country is working to modernize its economy through tax reforms and openness to foreign investment. Though not an EU member, it uses the euro and maintains special agreements with eurozone countries. Only 5% of land is farmable, so it relies on imports and is sensitive to food and fuel price changes.
Andorra’s GDP per capita is approximately $49,900.

》 Scripture Focus

1 John 2:1–6, 15–17(NIV)
1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.
4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:
6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

》 Prayer Points

1. Andorra officially recognized religious freedom in 1993. Over 90% of the population is Catholic, and only 2–4% are Protestant. Most are nominal believers, and many rely on shamans and astrologers. Evangelical churches and ministers are very few, and Andorra can be considered as an unreached people group. The churches that do exist are growing very slowly. Let us pray that they will firmly believe the gospel and trust in the atonement of Jesus Christ, our advocate. May the gospel of the cross be preached through the churches, so that the lost may be saved.

2. Andorra has the sixth highest life expectancy in the world, but serious social problems exist—drug and alcohol addiction are common, and suicide rates are high, especially among men and youth. The high divorce rate leads to broken homes, creating emotional and financial instability for children and teens. Let us pray for families and the next generation to return to God’s word, keep His commandments, and be fully restored in His love.

3. Andorra is a nation deeply influenced by materialism, attracting wealthy tourists, financiers, and duty-free shoppers. About 10 million tourists visit each year, and more than half of residents are foreign immigrants. Let us pray that those enslaved by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life will turn from the world and love God. May the few churches in Andorra remain in Christ, keep His word, and be channels of blessing, sharing the gospel with tourists and immigrants who come to this land.
