Ch 1. You Are Mine

Children Made in God’s Image!

1) Life Created by God

Every life born on this earth was created by God. The sovereignty over life belongs to Him alone. God established the natural order of life for a man and a woman to come together in marriage, form a family, and bear children. Through the family, God continues to fulfill His word in Genesis 1:27–28.

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”(Genesis 1:27–28,NIV)

》Scripture Prayer

(Psalm 128:1–6,NIV)1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in obedience to him. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the LORD. 5 May the LORD bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. 6 May you live to see your children’s children—peace be on Israel.

Pray that the Word may become the Conclusion.

1. God is the sovereign Lord over life. Fearing God begins by trusting that He alone holds authority over the beginning and end of each life within the family. Parents are called to receive their children with gratitude, cherish them, and raise them as one body in Christ. Let us repent for any attitude that claims ownership over life or children, living with the mindset of “my life” or “my child,” without honoring God’s rule over all.

2. Children created in God’s image are a blessing to the family. God gives fruitfulness to a husband and wife united as one, like a vine bearing grapes. What a blessing it is to have children gathered around the table together. Let us pray that God’s command to be fruitful and multiply continues even today, and that the blessing of seeing our children’s children may flow as a living testimony of His promise.

2) You Are Mine

Jacob, among the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, was unusual from birth. Conceived as a twin, he fought from the womb and was born grasping his brother Esau’s heel. Jacob and Esau were completely different in personality, appearance, and character. At a defining moment, Jacob seized the birthright from his brother and even deceived his blind father to receive the firstborn’s blessing. He then became a fugitive. Yet God, who created Jacob, was with him through his long and difficult journey. God had chosen Jacob to carry on the line through which the promised Savior would come and faithfully guided his life.

》Scripture Prayer

(Isaiah 43:1–7,NIV)1 But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” 3 “For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.” 4 “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” 5 “Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.” 6 “I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—” 7 “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Pray that the Word may become the Conclusion.

1. God knew Jacob’s sins and weaknesses from the start. He saw his failures and limitations, yet held this unchanging truth: “I created you. I called you by name. You are Mine.” Let us pray that the older generation including parents will look at the next generation not with judgment or fear, but with this same unchanging conclusion from God.

2. God has a clear and simple heart toward every person He creates. “You are precious and honored in My sight, and I love you.” Though humanity has fallen into sin, God redeems each one at unimaginable cost and reveals His glory through them. Even if the next generation seems far from God or spiritually desolate, let us pray that the Lord Himself would rescue and restore them.

3) Made As A Bundle of Blessing

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.(Ephesians 1:3,NIV)

People who live by the desires of the flesh cannot grasp the blessings God intended when He created mankind. The only way to receive every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms is by uniting with Christ through faith in His Word. Jesus, who died and rose again in union with sinners, fulfilled the gospel so we could live in the fullness of God’s blessing. All who believe this gospel of the cross are restored in God’s image and live in glory as a bundle of blessing.

》Scripture Prayer

(Proverbs 1:2–9, NIV) 2 for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight, 3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; 4 for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young— 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance— 6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. 9 They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Pray that the Word may become the Conclusion.

1. God accomplished salvation to give us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. Those who have received this salvation are restored to the original image God created and are called to rule over and steward creation so that His blessings flow through them. Let us give thanks, believing that our children, made according to God’s purpose, will live in Christ as a bundle of blessing, pouring out heavenly blessings to the world.

2. Through His Word, God reveals the gospel and teaches us how to live in true blessing. Every sinner must hear and understand His Word and be born again by faith. Let us repent of the ways we’ve neglected Scripture or treated it lightly. May parents today teach and correct the next generation with the gospel through the Bible alone, so that they will be born again and live by wisdom, justice, and integrity.
