Offer You as Instruments of Righteousness
1) Modern Education Based on the Bible That Leads to the Fear and Love of God
The Renaissance period marked a shift from doctrinal (theoretical) education to factual (experiential) learning, influenced not only by humanism but also by realism. In the midst of this change, the Lord, who had already brought about a great reformation through Martin Luther (1483–1546) during a time of chaos, continued His sovereign work. Under His absolute rule—over all of human history and even the expanse of the universe—He sustained His passion for educating the next generation.
One of the most significant educators God used after Luther was John Amos Comenius (1592–1670). Through Comenius, God moved education beyond mere doctrine following the Reformation and into the reality of daily life, where the gospel could be lived and the glory of God revealed. For this, Comenius is often referred to as the father of modern education. He developed a systematic approach to education that spanned from birth to adulthood (around age 25). His educational framework was firmly grounded in Scripture, with the ultimate goal of helping each soul live according to God’s purpose—to glorify Him, walk with Him, and delight in Him. One especially noteworthy aspect of his philosophy was the emphasis on parental responsibility. Comenius believed that all foundational preparation before a child entered formal schooling rested with the parents, highlighting their role as the child’s first and most responsible teachers. The key characteristics of Comenius’s educational philosophy are as follows:
First, an education rooted in the Bible. Comenius emphasized that human beings should grow to be godly, and that such growth must come through the teachings of Scripture. He believed that the Holy Spirit works through parents as channels, allowing biblical instruction to be gently and thoroughly impressed upon the hearts of their children.
Second, an education grounded in the fear of God. Comenius highlighted three key aspects regarding this:
1. That education should lead to fearing and loving God
2. That life in this world should be a preparation for the life to come
3. That education should aim to teach the fulfillment of God’s promises in light of eternal life and the age to come.
》Scripture Prayer
(2 Timothy 3:10-17,NIV) 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
》Pray that the Word may become the Conclusion.
1. Let us give thanks to God for initiating an education that is based on the Bible and teaches us to fear and love Him. God has already provided the foundation for educating the next generation, yet we have abandoned the true education needed for sinners and instead implemented humanistic and secular education. As a result, the education system of our time has failed to raise people of godly faith. Let us repent for this and pray that parents and teachers, as those entrusted with the responsibility of education, may be empowered to raise the next generation through God’s original model of education.
2. Paul raised Timothy and other disciples through Scripture alone. The Bible gives wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Through the Word, people of God are made complete and equipped for every good work. Let us pray that education for the next generation around the world will be grounded in the Bible, and that they may be made complete as God’s people and be established as faithful disciples of the Lord.
2) Fear of God is Revealed Through Complete Obedience
Daniel was a young boy taken captive to Babylon. Along with his companions, he was chosen to be trained in the king’s palace for three years, learning the language and literature of the Chaldeans while being given royal food and wine. Despite his youth, Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the king’s provisions out of reverence for God. His decision, made in fear of the Lord, led to God granting him favor with the chief official, who allowed his request. God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding in all literature and wisdom. After three years, they were found to be ten times wiser and more discerning than all the magicians and enchanters in the kingdom. Daniel, in particular, was given understanding of visions and dreams, through which he foretold the future of empires and of Israel, becoming a mediator of God’s rule. At the root of it all was the fear of God planted in a young heart, and the wisdom and understanding that came from truly knowing Him.
》Scripture Prayer
(Daniel 1:8–21,NIV) 8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, 10 but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.” 11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. 15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. 17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. 18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. 21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

1. In South Judah, which was being invaded by Babylon, only Jeremiah cried out the word of God, but no one believed it. In the midst of this, God met a young Samuel. According to God’s word, Daniel was taken to Babylon and selected for the king’s court. There, he was faced with a choice—whether to accept the teachings of the Chaldeans and become one of their magicians and enchanters, or to live a pure life before God, rejecting the ways of the world. This young boy chose the latter. To Daniel, who was living as a despised slave and separated from his parents at a young age, God became everything. Let us pray that the next generation will be saved by the gospel and come to know God as their everything, so that when faced with moments of decision in this world, they will choose God.
2. Daniel’s ability to stand before a powerful king and obey God without fear was not something that came from himself. It was entirely the result of God’s grace—He caused him to find favor with others and gave him wisdom and understanding. The experiences Daniel had as a young boy, born from his fear of God, led him to surrender his whole life and follow Him faithfully. Let us pray that our children too would receive the grace to know and fear the Lord. Even at a young age, may they fear Him and believe that He is worth giving their whole lives to follow.
3) Let Them Always Pray
Whether adults or children, those who live by faith relying on the Word must see the power of the gospel become real in every word and action. If someone claims to know the gospel but still harbors lies, evil, pride, violence, or division in their eyes, tongue, hands, heart, or feet, they are not living in a way that is pleasing to God. For the Word to become power and take root in our lives, we must pray persistently until it is truly believed in our hearts. We are called to pray always in the Holy Spirit without ceasing and to let the Word of life be engraved on our hearts. Through obedience to that Word, we give glory to God.
》Scripture Prayer
(Proverbs 6:16–23,NIV) 16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. 20 My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. 21 Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck. 22 When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. 23 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life.
》Pray that the Word may become the Conclusion.
1. God Himself is leading us toward the victorious day when Satan will be destroyed and the mission will be completed. On that day, we will see the return of Jesus Christ. For that purpose God is giving His Church, the body of Christ, freely and abundantly to the nations so that it may become a channel of salvation. To prepare for this time God has raised up a secret weapon, the next generation of faith nurtured through the gospel and prayer. When it seems they are trapped in lust, pleasure, and entertainment with no way out, a generation reborn through the Gospel of the Cross, so hidden even Satan is unaware, will rise and advance across the nations. Let us earnestly pray that this next generation of faith, God’s secret weapon, will be trained and raised up through the gospel and prayer in Christian schools throughout Korea and around the world.
2. The next generation growing up in Christ lives a life of faith—hearing, reading, meditating on, and obeying the Word of the Gospel. Through the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, they experience the Word becoming a living reality. The Holy Spirit also teaches them to pray, so that the Word becomes a lamp to their feet, a light to their path, and the way of life. Let us bless and pray for our children and the next generation to remain awake in the Spirit, always praying, so they may truly live out the gospel.
