“God chose you to be saved through belief in the truth”
On July 3 (local time), the U.S.-based Christian Daily International (CDI) reported that people gathered near Carmen Church in Vía España, central Panama City, holding signs that read “Family is God’s perfect design.” United in purpose, they marched to uphold family values and pray for the nation.
The event, titled Mega Festival: Family, God’s Design, was hosted by the Panamanian Evangelical Alliance (AEP). Hundreds of believers joined in a procession filled with praise, prayer, and declarations of faith. The march was both celebratory and reverent. Despite the sweltering heat, children, youth, and adults marched together, singing worship songs. At intervals along the route, religious leaders prayed through microphones for families, government leaders, and the nation.
At the final gathering point, AEP President Pastor Prisciano Gil declared, “God has given victory to Panama,” emphasizing that this was not a political event, but a spiritual one. He said the purpose was to reaffirm to society that the family is the foundational unit of the nation.
Participants carried signs reading, “Let’s protect the Panamanian family,” “Yes to life, yes to family,” and “God created male and female.” Some mothers held their children’s hands as they walked, and many church groups wore matching T-shirts printed with Bible verses. Throughout the march, familiar worship songs rang out, and citizens and passersby quietly observed the peaceful demonstration.
At the final stop, a short service was held where various leaders lifted up prayers for the nation. The event ended with embraces, spontaneous testimonies, words of encouragement, and Pastor Gil’s prayer for peace and unity in families.
The Latin Evangelical Alliance (AEL), of which AEP is one of 22 national associations, praised the event as a powerful public testimony of Christian unity and civic engagement. It commended the AEP’s broad efforts to defend traditional values. God, we thank You for the hundreds who marched in Panama City—worshipping and declaring family values under the banner of “God’s perfect design.” Empower these believers, Your chosen church, to walk in courage and truth as they speak Your Word. May the people who witnessed the celebration, both in person and in heart, see Your light and come to understand the unchanging truths of creation. We pray that churches across Panama—and throughout the world—will keep spreading the gospel and praying, running steadily toward Your glory and living out Your kingdom in every generation.
