“Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven.”
On August 23 (local time), the Great Day of Humility event took place in Juárez Square, in the center of Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. Thousands of Christians gathered to pray together for peace in the nation, repentance, and the restoration of families.
The gathering began with praise led by worship leader Israel Garcia. Participants offered heartfelt songs of worship, listened to the public reading of Scripture, and were deeply moved by a message of repentance. Many knelt on the ground in tears, praying earnestly. Later, attendees waved the flags of Mexico and Israel while marching through the city, shouting, “Christ is alive.”
A street evangelism program called Operation Traffic Light especially drew attention. Volunteers stood at intersections holding signs that read “Draw near to God” and shared the gospel with passersby.
Pastor Gerardo Irías of the Evangelical Fellowship of Honduras, which organized the event, preached, saying, “Now is the time for the church to change. We must change the way we live.” He emphasized, “Let us live without fear. True faith is not just religious rituals but being salt and light in society.”
Mexico is currently struggling with high crime rates and social instability. As of the second quarter of 2025, 63.2% of the population reported feeling unsafe. In this context, the gathering was seen as a powerful reminder of the need for spiritual renewal and unity in the community.

God, thank You for allowing thousands of Christians in Mexico to come together in prayer and boldly proclaim the name of Jesus Christ in the march, even in a land burdened with so many crimes and problems. We trust that You will answer those who earnestly seek You. Lead Christians to lift their hearts and hands with deep humility and come before the God of heaven in true repentance. Let the life of Christ cover all of Mexico, bringing the grace of forgiveness through Him who took away the shame and penalty of sin. By Your love that drives out fear, restore every soul in this nation.
