Come, let us return to the Lord.
A Polish court-backed decision has led to the official recognition of a same-sex marriage in Poland, according to a report by Yonhap News on May 15 citing AP News and other sources. Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski announced that the city had issued its first copy of a marriage certificate to a same-sex couple following a court ruling. He also stated that same-sex marriages would be recognized in the future without requiring additional court decisions. The couple, who were married in Germany in 2018, had previously attempted to register their marriage in Poland but were denied by authorities. They later filed a case with the European Court of Justice (ECJ). In November of last year, the European court ruled that legally recognized same-sex marriages within European Union member states must also be acknowledged by other EU countries. Following the ruling, Poland’s Supreme Administrative Court ordered Warsaw authorities to register the marriage based on the ECJ decision. Poland is known as a predominantly Catholic country, with more than 70 percent of its population identifying as Catholic. Issues related to LGBT rights and abortion legalization have continued to be major political and social debates in the country. (Source: Gospel Prayer News)
Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.(Hosea 6:1, NIV)
God, we grieve over the official recognition of same-sex marriage in Poland. Please break every scheme of Satan that leads people away from Your truth and toward sin. We ask You to rebuke the voices that call evil good in the name of human rights. Awaken the hearts of those who have lost the fear of God, and turn them away from the desires of the flesh and back to Your ways. May the churches in Poland rise up and boldly proclaim, “Let us return to the Lord.” Lead many souls to repentance and life through the grace and love of the cross of Christ. May Poland once again become a nation that seeks You.
