The Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) in Maryland is facing a lawsuit over allegations that it concealed a student’s gender identity from her parents and directed school staff to provide misleading explanations.
America First Legal (AFL) filed the lawsuit on behalf of a parent, alleging that the school district facilitated the student’s social gender transition at school without requiring parental consent or notification. The complaint further alleges that school employees were instructed to mislead parents in order to conceal the student’s social transition.
According to the complaint, the parent discovered by chance that her daughter was using a male name at school. When the parent asked about the name, school employees allegedly claimed on two separate occasions that it referred to another student. They later acknowledged that the name was, in fact, being used for the parent’s daughter.
The parent alleges that these repeated misleading statements destroyed her trust in the school, prompting her to withdraw her daughter from a school field trip. Rather than addressing the concerns, the school district allegedly responded that the parent would need to obtain a subpoena before it would provide additional information. God, we ask You to rebuke the schools and educators who conceal from parents that their children are being led to change their gender identity. We bring before You the reality that truth is being distorted in public education, while parents are kept in the dark as harmful ideas and values are taught to their children. We declare that no act of rebellion against You can ever be hidden from Your sight. By Your mighty hand, restore truth and righteousness in every classroom. Raise up the next generation in America as holy warriors who are grounded in the truth of the gospel and live for Your glory.
