》 About Canada

Canada was first discovered by the British in 1497 with the finding of Newfoundland. In 1553, the French arrived, sparking disputes over territorial expansion between Britain and France. Following the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763), Britain emerged victorious, gaining full control. In 1867, Canada was recognized as British territory and later became an independent member of the British Commonwealth in 1931, officially adopting the name “Canada” in 1951. In 1982, the country proclaimed its own independent constitution, solidifying its status as a sovereign state. As the country is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, King Charles III of the United Kingdom serves as the Head of State, while the cabinet, formed by the majority party in the House of Commons, holds actual executive power led by the Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau has served as Prime Minister since 2015 and was re-elected in 2019.

Canada’s economy shares similarities with that of the U.S in its market-driven structure, production patterns, and high living standards. It ranks among the world’s top industrialized nations and is renowned for its vast land, rich with natural resources and prominent agricultural and forestry sectors. Due to significant growth in manufacturing, mining, and service sectors, Canada has shifted from a predominantly rural economy to an urban and industrial one. The country holds the third-largest oil reserves globally, following Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, and is the seventh-largest oil producer. However, the economy faced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a decline in trade with its largest partners, the U.S. and China. Canada’s GDP per capita is approximately $45.900

》 Scripture Focus

Habakkuk 3:2-3, 13-19(NIV)
2 LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD.
Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth.
13 You came out to deliver your people, to save your anointed one. You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness, you stripped him from head to foot.
14 With his own spear you pierced his head when his warriors stormed out to scatter us, gloating as though about to devour the wretched who were in hiding.
15 You trampled the sea with your horses, churning the great waters.
16 I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound;
decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
For the director of music. On my stringed instruments.

》 Prayer Points

1. The increase in Islamic extremism, caused by multiculturalism, has led to growing fears of foreigners, anti-immigrant sentiment, and racial discrimination within the country. Since the introduction of the Multiculturalism Act in 1988, the Muslim population has grown significantly. Even extremist groups like ISIS have been accepted, and it is predicted that they will become a stronger influence in Canada in the future.
Let us pray that the schemes of Satan, who distorts truth under the guise of ‘inclusiveness,’ will be exposed and destroyed. Let us pray that the Church will stand firm in God’s truth without compromise, so that Canada may be filled with only the glory and praise of the Lord.

2. Since the legalization of marijuana in Canada, there has been an alarming increase in drug-related deaths, with an average of 6.4 deaths per day. In 2016, an emergency public health measure was issued in response to deaths caused by the illegal drug abuse epidemic. However, by 2023, a total of 11,807 people had died from drug use, with 93% of those deaths being from overdoses. 71% of the victims were between the ages of 30 and 59, the most active years for ecomic activity. Additionally, 77% of the deaths were male. One of the main reasons for the significant increase in deaths from drug overdose is the widespread use of fentanyl, which can lead to death if even a small amount exceeds the recommended dosage.
Let us pray that the Church in Canada may be firmly established in the truth, so that they can lead souls, who are enslaved by Satan and driven to destruction and death, to the light. Let us pray that Canada will find true joy not in temporary pleasures, but rejoice in the eternal joy that comes from the gospel of the Lord.

3. Over the past ten years, there has been a sharp increase in sexually transmitted diseases(STDs), largely due to the reluctance to use contraception, the prevalence of online dating, and a lack of sexual health education. The number of infections from the three most common STDs has reached critical levels, leading to the declaration of a national emergency. Additionally, the number of newborns born with STDs has surged 13-fold over the past four years.
Let us pray that the souls in this land will be restored as temples filled with God’s glory through the gospel of the cross of Jesus Christ.
Canada is also a country that has legalized euthanasia. Prior to 2012, euthanasia was banned under criminal law, but in June 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that this ban violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Since then, the government has implemented a state-run euthanasia program. In 2023, the Canadian Parliament called for euthanasia to be allowed for minors without parental consent.
Let us pray that the schemes of Satan, which lead souls to eternal death, be shattered, and that the gospel of salvation may reach these souls, proclaiming that God, the Creator of life, is their strength.
