In the 21st century in which we live, there are still people who have not heard and therefore do not believe the Gospel. The Church has a missionary and intercessory calling to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to these people and to pray for them. Additionally, the Church is a place where believers witness, learn, and live a life of faith as citizens of God’s kingdom. More than anything, the Church serves as an ambassador of Jesus Christ, our King and Bridegroom, proclaiming the reality of God’s kingdom by living in anticipation of His return. A living letter and fragrance of Jesus Christ is the Church! However, the global church has increasingly become a target for re-evangelization due to the growing number of nominal Christians. Unfortunately, many Christians are ignorant of personal faith, true repentance from sin, and working out salvation in a relationship of obedience to God, Many nominal believers, rather than praying and enjoying the priceless gift of God’s grace, consider the results of good deeds as a means to salvation. Moreover, as we enter an age of religious pluralism and postmodernism, universal salvation, which claims that salvation can be attained by believing in any deity rather than just God, is surfacing even within the Christian community. Even Christians who consider themselves evangelicals often lack a clear conviction regarding the authority and inerrancy of God’s Word and are compromising on the issue of homosexuality. They are distorting the truth into a means for their own personal problems and agendas. Nevertheless, we must pray to the Lord, who is the sovereign ruler of history, holding onto the conclusion that the victory of the Church is ensured. |
》 Scripture Focus
Titus 1:10-16 (NIV)
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.
11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.
12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.
13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith
14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.
15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
》 Prayer Points
1. Let us reflect upon our lives if we are living according to the values of God’s kingdom and repent. Although we claim to believe in God, are we living according to our beliefs? Let us humbly stand before the Gospel. Pray that God would awaken us from our ignorance and enable us to live a life in which our words and actions are one.
2. Let us pray that the church, tainted by pluarism and secualrism, may hear the voice of God’s rebuke and warning of love. Pray that the Church would behold a vision of the completion of the Great Commission, and become a church captivated by the glory of the Lord’s return.
