“I am not ashamed of the gospel.”
Christian faith was once seen as intellectually uncomfortable in Silicon Valley. It was often kept private, while atheism and Eastern spirituality were considered more sophisticated. But that’s beginning to change. Vanity Fair recently reported on an event called Code & Cosmos in San Francisco, where scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors gathered to explore the intersection of faith and technology.
One of the keynote speakers was Dr. Francis Collins, former director of the National Institutes of Health and leader of the Human Genome Project. Once an atheist, Dr. Collins shared that he became a Christian during medical school while reflecting deeply on life and death. “Science can explain many things,” he said, “but it cannot answer the fundamental question: ‘Why do I exist?’” He added, “There is no conflict between being a scientist and a Christian.”
Openly expressing faith in Silicon Valley is no longer rare. Gary Tan, CEO of Y Combinator, publicly shares his Christian faith and frequently posts Bible verses on social media. Over 200 people attended the Code & Cosmos event hosted at his home, where young startup founders gathered around him to talk about both their business ideas and their faith.
Influential figures like Peter Thiel, a key player in the tech industry, are also contributing to this shift. In a recent talk, Thiel stated, “I believe in the resurrection of Christ,” and declared, “Christ is the only true role model for us.”
Michelle Stevens, founder of ACTS 17 Collective, said, “Christianity was once taboo in Silicon Valley, but now more people are turning to faith for direction and ethical grounding.” She emphasized that “Christianity is a radically inclusive faith for the marginalized, and it still holds deep meaning in our technological age.”
Some critics argue that this faith resurgence may be driven more by networking and funding opportunities than genuine belief. However, others see it as a deeper shift—a rediscovery of faith as a moral compass in an era of unrestrained technological advancement. (Source: Prayer 24·365 Edited)

Thank You for raising bold witnesses who are unashamed of the gospel and who proclaim Christ with confidence. Through gatherings where faith is shared, let those who thirst spiritually encounter the living God. May the transforming power of the gospel that brings salvation to all who believe spread throughout the United States, and may this nation become one that reveres You and worships You in truth.
