“make disciples of all nations”
More than 3,000 teenagers gathered to fill a high school football stadium in Arkansas to pray, read the word of God, and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the community, CBN News recently reported.
Students attending Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, Arkansas, participated in a gathering of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), hosted by the Fields of Faith (FOF).
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the student-led evangelism event and the leaders of the group celebrated by confessing what God had done in Arkansas.
Micha May, multi-regional director of FCA South Central Arkansas, said, “There was an unmistakable impression of the Holy Spirit through this event. Hundreds of students prayed to the Lord, God was present, and the lives of the students were changed.”
The FOF began with the dream of Jeff Martin, FCA’s senior vice president of strategic partnerships, frustrated by the moral depravity of the United States.
“I couldn’t help but think of my three soon-to-be teenagers,” Jeff Martin told Sports Spectrum. “My wife and I have always had to defend from culture and media as parents wherever we go,” he said. “Anyone who knows a little bit about sports knows that you can’t always win by just defending. We must attack someday,” he said.
The theme of the 2023 FCA is “Greater” based on the words “He must increase, but I must decrease” in John 3:30. FCA emphasizes to Christian coaches and players that their identity and values are in Christ, not sports.
His dream to preach the gospel to student-athletes has become a reality, and now more than a million people from all over the world gather together to worship, pray, and encourage each other through testimony and Bible reading.
The Field of Faith in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is in its 17th year, and leaders believe the growth is part of God’s work that has hit American youth. “The work of revival is happening in the world,” May said. “God is moving, and we have become a small part of what he does. I give all the glory to God,” he confessed. (Source: Gospel Prayer Newspaper Comprehensive).
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Thank You, God, for using the Field of Faith, a group of Christian athletes, to raise the next generation to deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ and call them to dedicate themselves to words, prayers, and evangelism. I believe that the beginning of a revival was Your calling of one man who thirsted for God’s glory and couldn’t stand the depravity of morals in the U.S. I pray that You would again raise one man who is consumed by the hope of the revival of God’s kingdom’s, completion of God’s mission, and spread the hope of salvation all over the world.
