“His eyes are on the righteous who love life.”
A new report has been released showing that more than 30,000 foetuses’ lives were protected and were born in the first half of this year in 13 U.S. states where abortion bans were implemented following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision in 2022. According to the American Christian Post (CP), the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA), a non-profit research institute based in Germany, recently published a report titled ‘The Impact of the Dobbs Ruling on the Birth Rate’.
“During the first half of 2023, birth rates increased by an average of 2.3% in states that implemented complete abortion bans compared to states that protected abortion rights,” the report said. “This means that approximately 32,000 more people were born as a result of the abortion ban,” it explained.
IZA identified 13 states with near-total bans on abortion as of the end of 2022, including Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin and emphasized the relative increase in births.
The report found that birth rate increases were particularly high in states where it takes a longer time to travel to nearby states where legal abortion was available, such as southern Texas, Kentucky, and Mississippi.
On the other hand, states that have declared that they will protect abortion rights include Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington, 24 states.
After the report was released, Human Coalition Action, an American pro-life group, said in a statement, “All lives matter. We supported innovative laws like Texas’ heartbeat law because we knew they would save children and protect women from the horrors of abortion. We express our gratitude and joy for every life protected by this law.” (Source: Daily Good News)

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:10-12)
God, thank You for allowing countless lives to be born in the 13 states in the United States that have banned abortion. We thank You for those who fear You and have made the right decision. May You grant joy and happiness to them and bless the state governments that are honouring You. May the church in America continue to fight to protect the lives of the foetus through praying to You. Please let the gospel be heard in the hearts of souls who insist on their right to abortion and rebel against You. May they turn to Your goodness and be saved.
