“The Redeemer will come to those who depart from sin”
[Mar.17.2022] In Minya region in Egypt, six Muslims shot and killed three Coptic Christian brothers and mutilated their bodies while dancing, the American Christian Post(CP) reported.
According to the report, on March 1(local time), the attackers from the village of Jawer killed three brothers, identified as Yousef, Alfifi, and Bushra, who were working in a village farm in Malawi, the International Christian Coalition(ICC) recently reported.
The ICC said the Muslims shot and killed them, mutilated their bodies, and danced while committing crimes.
After returning to the village, the criminals said “Allahu Akbar” or “Allah is greater”. They were arrested by the police and confessed their crime. They even showed how they murdered Christian brothers, the ICC said.
The perpetrators are on trial for the murder of three Christian brothers and one of them has six children, the CP said.
Some sources said the mutilation was related to religious identity and appeared to reflect the killings of the Islamic State(ISIS).
According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, the Coptics who make up about 10% of Egypt’s population are descended from ancient Egyptians who later converted to Christianity in the early 1st century.
According to Open Doors, a Christian persecution watchdog group, Egypt is one of the worst 20 countries in the world with the persecution of Christians. Persecution of Christians in Egypt ranged from women being harassed while walking on the streets to driving out Christian communities by extremists, the group said on its website.
Christians are generally treated as second-class citizens, and the Minha region is notorious for the highest number of attacks on Christians, the CP said(source: The Christian Daily).
According to what they have done, so will he repay wrath to his enemies and retribution to his foes; he will repay the islands their due. “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the LORD.(Isaiah 59:18,20)
God, let the gospel of the cross be witnessed on this land through those who are brutally murdered but never gave up their faith. Pray for Your mercy and grant Your grace to those murderers to realize the majesty of the wrathful God who rewards them according to their deeds and turn away from their sins and meet the Redeemer. Comfort the bereaved families of the murdered, and help the Christians in Minya region and Egypt to overcome persecution and attack and not discouraged by their love for the Lord.
