“They read the Book of the Law and understood the words read to them.”
[Apr.23.2023] The National Bible Reading Marathon in the United States begins this weekend. Three years after COVID-19, the sound of Bible reading will echo from the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
According to the Christian Post (CP) on the 20th (local time), ‘The 34th Washington D.C. Bible Reading Marathon will be held on the West Terrace of the U.S. Capitol from 2:00 p.m. on the 22nd for five days. The event has been hosted annually by Seedline International, an Indiana-based Bible dissemination organization that aims to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to senior government officials.
Members of the Capitol and citizens who have made reservations online will read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation for 15 minutes each.
Keith Davidson, director of Seedline International, said in an interview with CP, “Through the Bible Marathon, we want to rekindle people’s interest in the Bible and let them know that the founding principle of the United States is the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of expression.”
He said, “Due to the Corona pandemic, for the past three years, the event has been held at a location other than the Capitol, and I am very happy and excited to be able to read the Bible while looking at the Washington Monument again.”
“As long as there is no danger from bad weather, reading the Bible will not stop even in bad weather,” he said. “Several Christian schools and organizations, including some Congress people, have expressed their intention to participate in reading the Bible,” he added. People also can participate in the Bible Reading Marathon online. The entire event will be broadcast live on Seedline International’s YouTube channel. (Source: Daily Good News)
He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law. They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read. Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy because they now understood the words that had been made known to them. (Nehemiah 8:3,8,12)
God, thank You for holding the ‘Bible Reading Marathon’ at the Capitol in Washington, USA, so that many citizens, including members of the Capitol, can stand in front of Your Word again. Please help the participating politicians & citizens to understand Your Word and rededicate themselves to a life pleasing to You. May You bring restoration and revival of Your Laws in the United States. And the sparks will spread to other parts of the world so that all nations will worship You through Jesus Christ.
