“ He will purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Germany will partially legalize cannabis by allowing all citizens over the age of 18 to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis per person from the end of the year. The German coalition government passed a revised bill related to cannabis legalization at a cabinet meeting on the 16th (local time).
“We plan to push for controlled legalization to access unresolved issues such as increased cannabis consumption, drug crime, and the black market,” German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said at a press conference. “Although cannabis consumption is legalized, it is true that cannabis is still dangerous,” he said. “No one should misunderstand the bill.”
At the same time, the goal of this policy is to curb black market and drug crimes, prevent cannabis sales, including toxic substances, and reduce the consumption population. “The protection of children and adolescents is key to the overall amendment, and we are going to launch a campaign called ‘Legitimate But…’ for young people,” Lauterbach said.
The German government plans to remove cannabis from the list of prohibited substances in the Anaesthetic Drugs Act to legalize cannabis. Relevant bills must pass the House of Representatives and the Senate. Implementation is expected by the end of the year. According to the amendment, in Germany, any citizen over the age of 18 can own 25 grams of cannabis per person and grow three hemp plants for cannabis use.
Cannabis self-sufficiency through so-called Cannabis Social Clubs (CSCs) is also allowed. These clubs can grow hemp for their members. Only club members have access to recreational cannabis. The allowed quantity of cannabis that clubs can hand over to members is 25 grams per serving, up to a maximum of 50 grams per month. For ages 18-21, the limit is 30g. About 3 cannabis can be made with 1 gram.
Cannabis smoking is not allowed inside the club or within a 200m radius. Within a 200m radius of a daycare centre or school, cannabis smoking is prohibited. Cannabis smoking will also be banned from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., on pedestrian-only streets. The German Traffic Light Coalition government promised cannabis legalization in the coalition agreement when it was launched. (Source: Yonhap News Agency).
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:8-9)
God, pray for the grace of the gospel and fight against sin so that Germany will not be completely destroyed by the partial legalization of cannabis. May You reveal the government’s injustice of trying to gain economic benefits and acceptance from people while concealing the terrifying reality of drugs, even though it has proposed to limit the quantity of cannabis for each person and protect children. May the Church pray for the people of this land who pursue the pleasures and profligacy of the flesh, so that the power of the cross that cleans us from all injustice may lead each man to life.
