Local authorities have found that the number of deaths from mysterious flu-like diseases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Democratic Congo) is half of the 143 people initially reported. “27 people died in hospitals and 44 at home,” Democratic Congo Health Minister Roger Kamba said at a press conference in Kinshasa. “10 of the hospital deaths died due to lack of blood transfusion and 17 died of respiratory problems.” “There were about 380 cases of infection, and more than half were children under the age of 5,” he added. “The infected patients showed symptoms such as fever, headache, cough, and anemia.”
