“Pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
Local authorities have found that the number of deaths from mysterious flu-like diseases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Democratic Congo) is half of the 143 people initially reported. On the 5th (local time), the Associated Press reported that according to the Democratic Congo health authorities, 71 people were reported to have died of mystery flu-like diseases in the Panzi Health District in the southern state of Kwango between Nov.10 and Nov 25.
“27 people died in hospitals and 44 at home,” Democratic Congo Health Minister Roger Kamba said at a press conference in Kinshasa. “10 of the hospital deaths died due to lack of blood transfusion and 17 died of respiratory problems.” “There were about 380 cases of infection, and more than half were children under the age of 5,” he added. “The infected patients showed symptoms such as fever, headache, cough, and anemia.”
The Panzi Health District in Kwango Province, where the disease was outbroken, is a remote area about 700 kilometres from the capital, Kinshasa, and is a vulnerable area where 40% of residents suffer from malnutrition. The Guardian, a British daily newspaper, reported on the 3rd that 143 people died, citing authorities in Kwango Province.
Jean Kaseya, secretary-general of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said at an online conference that day, “There are many things that are still unknown about the disease, including whether it is infectious and how it is transmitted.” “First diagnostics are leading us to think it is a respiratory disease,” he said.
“But We need to wait for the laboratory results,” he added. “More details about the disease should be known in the next 48 hours as experts receive results from laboratory samples of infected people.” The World Health Organization (WHO) said last week that it recognised the outbreak of the disease and was working with the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of Congo for further investigation. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:15-16)
